Walker & Wodehouse Producers
Champagne Edouard Brun, Aÿ
Originally founded in 1875 by a family of coopers, the house of Edouard Brun is a member of the Champagne Houses Association. They own vineyards of around 10 hectares including Grand and 1er Cru sites, situated in the Reims area, Aÿ, Mareuil and also Avenay, which are planted with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. The use of barrels is a strong tradition at Edouard Brun, which allows for a good exchange between wine, wood and air, contributing to the overall style of their Champagne.
Sancerre, Domaine Paul Prieur et Fils, Loire
A tenth generation family owned domain, which uses sustainable viticulture and limited yields to produce stunning wines from hand-picked grapes. The vines are grown on 16 hectares of south-facing slopes and on three different types of soil, including terres-blanches and Silex, which contributes to the depth and complexity of their wine.
Viña Estampa, Chile
Situated in the Colchagua Valley, Viña Estampa is an innovative and award-winning estate, founded by the Gonzalez-Ortiz family. Their philosophy is centred on the art of assemblage, blending two or three varietals to create world-class award-winning wines. Estampa owns 300 hectares of vineyards and operates from a state of the art, avant-garde winery which is depicted on the bottle label of the Estate range.
Montestell, Boland Cellar, South Africa
Boland Cellar has been nominated as one of South Africa’s top 20 export companies in their category, named one of the top 100 wine producers in the world by the World Association of Wine & Spirits Writers, as well as being arguably the top wine producer from the much acclaimed Paarl region. The focus is on the merits of what is referred to as “regionality”. For more than 6 decades they have been working in the Paarl region, time which had allowed their viticulturists to isolate 5 different climatic zones. Differentiation is achieved on the basis of added complexity gained by the masterful blending of wines from the different zones.
Basio, Castilla y León, Spain
Located in the high plateau of Castille, the central Meseta is at an altitude of 700-800 metres. The 400 hectare, private family vineyards are situated 4 kilometres south of the Duero River in the demarcated area of Rueda, south of Tordesillas. On the site of one of the Duke of Wellington’s famous victories, the soil is balanced and well-aerated, being made up of limestone. The average age of the vines is 23 years and harvesting is done mostly at night when temperatures are cooler to preserve acidity in the wines.
